VCF Mestalla to kick off the Premier League International Cup against West Ham United
VCF Mestalla will kick off this Tuesday against West Ham United their participation in the Premier League International Cup, an international U21 competition organised by the Premier League.
12 teams from England and other 12 teams from countries such as Spain, Germany, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Scotland, Croatia or Portugal will be featuring too.
In the last edition, VCF Mestalla reached the semi-finals of this tournament losing on penalties to Crystal Palace FC.
VCF Mestalla will travel to London on Monday where they will face West Ham United at the Chigwell Construction Stadium on Tuesday at 8 pm (CET) (7 pm (BST ).
The game against West Ham is the first of four that VCF Mestalla will face in the first group stage in which they will also face Brighton & Hove Albion FC, Southampton FC and Chelsea FC.
Competition system
The 24 participating teams are divided into 3 groups of 8 teams, and in each group, there are 4 teams from the Premier League and 4 teams from other countries that in this initial phase only face teams from the Premier League.
The first and second-placed teams from each group plus the two best third-placed teams will qualify for the Quarter-Finals which, like all knockout rounds, will be played over a single match.
Semi-finalist in the 22-23 edition
The team coached by Miguel Angel Angulo will try to show again the great competitive level that last season led them to reach the semi-finals of this competition in which they lost on penalties to Crystal Palace FC after having remained unbeaten in the 6 matches played against Fulham FC, Leicester City FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers, Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace FC.
